2020 MLB NL Central Preview

With only a few days left before the MLB season returns here is a preview of the NL Central.

St.Louis Cardnals

2019 record 91-71

Won NL Central Lost in NLCS

The St.louis Cardnals had a great 2019 season they won the NL Central with a record of 91-71. In the playoffs the Cardinals played the Braves in a wild NLDS series. They would win that series in 5 games. In the NLCS the Cardinals got swept by the Nationals.

In the Offseason the Cardinals resigned RHP John Grant C Matt Wieters,OF Alec Burleson. They also claimed LHP Ricardo Sanchez from Seattle off of waivers. On Monday they announced that thier RHP Jordan Hicks has opted out of the new season. Hicks had 14 saves and 31 strikeouts for the Cardnals last season

I think the Cardnals will compete in 2020. I don’t think they will win the NL Central but I think they will be in a wild card spot in the end

Milwaukee Brewers

2019 record 89-73

2nd in the NL Centreal

Lost in NL Wild card

The Brewers had a pretty good 2019 with arecord of 89-73. THey finished second in the NL Central. They made the playoff for the second year in a row but they would lose in the NL Wild Card against the Washington Nationals.

I think the Brewer can definitely compete for the Division title. Even though they lost a couple of key pieces. I think Yelich will be even better this year then last year and the Brewers will have a good 2020.

Chicago Cubs

2019 Record 84-78

Missed Playoffs

The Cubs did not have a good 2019. They went 84-78 and missed the playoff for the first time in 2014, This resulted in the firing of manager Joe Madden. They also agreed to terms with Shortstop Javier Baez Catcher William Contreras outfields Kyle schwarber and Albert Almora.

I think the cubs will rebound this year with new management and the same piece that had some success in the first half of last year. I think the Cubs will be in the hunt for a wild card at the end of 60 games this year.

Cinncinati Reds

2019 75-87 missed playoff

4th in NL Central

All things considered the Reds had a pretty good 2019 season. They finished with a record of 75-87. They missed the playoffs for the 6th year in a row. Even thoguh the Reds continue to miss the postseason thier win total improved a lot in 2019.

I think the Reds will dontinue to improve and rebuild. I don’t think the rebuild will be complete this year but I think they will be better then they were last year.

Pittsburgh PIrates

2019 Record 69-93

Missed playoffs

The Pirates did not have good 2019. They finished in last place in the NL central with a record of 69-93. They missed the playoffs for the 3rd year in a row.

I think the Pirates are going to continue to rebuild and remain at the bottom of the NL Central at the end of this season.
