Ravens vs Giants Post Game Recap

The Ravens took care of their business against the Giants. The Ravens are in the midst of their best streak at the best time this season. But, as the Ravens found out painfully last year: the playoffs are the stepping stone to their goals, not their goal.  Here are my thoughts on the Ravens vs Giants game from week 16. We analyze all the star players and their performances.

Lamar Jackson had another good day for the Ravens. He threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 80 yards. Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins both topped 75 rushing yards. The offensive line played well, not giving up a sack. The Ravens won time of possession by over ten minutes. They only punted twice.

On their first possession of the game, the Ravens marched down the field. They take over eight minutes to traverse 82 yards on 13 plays. It was as perfect a drive as you can put together. During the drive, they looked like the 2019 Ravens. Unstoppable.

The Ravens are currently playing their best football at their most important time.

The Ravens got no sacks in the first half. In the second half they got six, two of which were by Chris Board.

The Ravens were down a bunch of cornerbacks including Jimmy Smith and Marcus Peters. Despite that, Daniel Jones threw for only 79 yards in the first half. In garbage time in the second half, he threw for a respectable 173 yards. Anthony Averett had another good game in the second cornerback spot.

The Ravens didn’t give up a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter.

Other Notes

The Ravens exerted their dominance on third down. Offensively they converted eight of eleven third-down opportunities. They held the Giants to just one conversion on ten attempts.

The Ravens didn’t force a turnover in the game, but they did give the ball away once when Lamar Jackson and Gus Edwards had some miscommunication on the zone read. Jackson gave him the ball too late, and the ball popped out.

The Ravens had ten penalties called against them. Four of those penalties were presnap penalties. There were also two other presnap penalties that were declined.

This is my analysis of the Ravens vs Giants game from last week.
